COOKING WITH FIRE - SOMERSET - 31/05/26

£275.00

Join us for a unique wood-fired cooking experience on the Somerset Levels. This hands-on event includes a guided foraging walk, a fire cooking workshop and a sit-down outdoor dinner. You’ll be introduced to some traditional fire-cooking techniques and seasonal wild ingredients gathered from the land.

This event takes place at the award-winning Craftsman’s Cabin, a handcrafted rural retreat set amongst acres of wildflower meadows, ancient hedgerows, apple orchards and wide, open skies. It’s a beautiful, relaxed setting where we’ll spend the day outdoors, soaking up Somerset as spring begins to reach it’s peak.

Mark will be joined by Bruce, friend and fellow fire-cooking expert who lives locally and knows the area very well. They’ll be working together throughout the day, sharing approaches and techniques shaped by experience, place and season.

The experience culminates in a sit-down Sunday feast. The menu, designed and prepared by Mark and Bruce, will feature dishes inspired by the landscape, the season and the wild ingredients gathered from the land, with all food cooked over fire and served with thoughtfully paired wines, cider and wild cocktails.

Reconnect with wild food, fire and traditional skills in a beautiful outdoor setting. Craftsman’s Cabin is around an hour from Bristol, with Bruton and Frome nearby. Further details and FAQS can be found below.

The day begins with a foraging walk through the surrounding landscape where we’ll introduce you to some of the edible fungi, wild herbs, fruits and berries around our site to gather ingredients for the day ahead, before a simple fire-cooked lunch.

We’ll teach you the basics - wood selection, axe skills and temperature control - and how to manage and maintain a fire for cooking. Learn how to prepare game birds, fish or locally harvested wild meat ready for cooking over the fire.

The event starts at 11am and finishes at 4pm. Participants will need to make their own way to the meeting point (car park). Free onsite parking is provided. The full address and travel advice will be provided after booking. Not suitable for under 18s.
