THE LOST EXPLORER

OAXACA, MEXICO:

The Lost Explorer, founded by environmentalist David Rothschild and Icelandic entrepreneur Thor Björgólfsson, commissioned us to shoot a series of authentic stills and video content to showcase their small-batch mezcals - Espadín, Tobalá, and Salmiana - in the environment that shapes them. Travelling through Oaxaca, we visited wild agave fields, rode mountain trails, cooked over fire with local chefs, and connected with artisans. What we learned? The story of mezcal is inseparable from the people who live on and work the land.

The project culminated with a wood-fired dining experience curated by FIRE + WILD on a remote strip of beach outside Puerto Escondido, set between the crashing Pacific Ocean and a tropical saltwater lagoon alive with birds and wildlife. Inaccessible by vehicle, our guests arrived to the dining table in style - on horseback!

The mountains, coast, and kitchens we’d explored shaped the menu we created in collaboration with local chef Ignacio - featuring dishes like grilled octopus, smoky shellfish broth, and roasted banana crème brûlée. Each course was paired with mezcal or a wild cocktail, the flavours aligning naturally with the landscape. Raw, immersive, and elemental, the experience and the project perfectly reflected the spirit of The Lost Explorer.

We produced a series of short video clips and reels for The Lost Explorer to use across their social platforms, along with stills and short films to support the launch of their new tequila range. The project pulled together everything we value — time in the field, cooking over fire, collaborating with local experts, and capturing the raw spirit of a place. It was the kind of project we’re always ready to take on, whether for brands seeking honest, lived-in storytelling or for individuals looking for an authentic, fully immersive adventure in nature.
