EVENT HOST (part-time)
We are looking for an organised and confident individual to manage and host our regular ticketed public events as well as private and corporate bookings. This would be a part time role initially and would suit someone with a lot of flexibility. Due to the rural location of the business and the nature of the role, in order to qualify for this position you must be in possession of a full clean UK driving licence and your own reliable vehicle.
ABOUT FIRE + WILD
FIRE + WILD is an off-grid outdoor dining and foraging experience based just outside of Lewes, East Sussex. We serve hyper-seasonal dishes cooked over fire, using wild food, fish and game. Our events are designed for small groups of up to 16 guests and take place throughout the year within our private woodland site. We embrace traditional, wood-fired cooking techniques which celebrate the seasonal ingredients that we harvest from the surrounding landscape. Hunting and foraging provides us with ethically sourced organic meat, fresh line-caught fish, wild greens, berries and fungi. Through our events and workshops we offer the chance to connect with nature, practice new skills and to learn about cooking with wild ingredients found throughout the British Isles. We are passionate about sustainability and have a low impact, zero waste policy.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Working alongside our chef and other team members you would be responsible for planning and delivering these unique events to a high standard and in keeping with FIRE + WILD’s core values. Within this role you would also be responsible for delivering the drinks pairing experience during each event and therefore will need a solid knowledge and genuine passion for wine and cocktails.
Pre-event duties will include dealing with guest enquiries, choosing and placing orders for wine and stock as well as organising the team. The host will work closely with the chef at all times and also manage any support staff required during the event. Part of the job will be to coordinate the set up and break down of each event so will require lots of positive energy, fitness and stamina.
Events take place most weekends, (usually Saturday) throughout the spring, summer and autumn months between 11am and 4pm meaning no late nights and you still get to enjoy the rest of your weekend! You would be working for FIRE + WILD on a self-employed freelance basis. FIRE + WILD is a growing company and evolving day by day and if the right person was able to make this role their own then there is certainly plenty of potential for a long-term, full time position within the team.
ABOUT YOU
If you have a background in fine dining hospitality, fire cooking or having wild food knowledge then we’d especially love to hear from you but whilst this experience is preferred it is not essential. If you are interested in applying for this role but don’t have experience within these specific fields please don’t be put off. As long as you are able to demonstrate a true passion for hosting people and show a willingness to learn how we do things we would be more than happy to consider your application.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
Relevant hosting/catering experience
Good knowledge and passion for wine
General knowledge of wild food
Level 2 food hygiene certificate
In order to qualify for this position you must be in possession of a full clean UK driving licence and your own reliable vehicle.
