On Saturday 24th August we will be hosting our final dining experience of the summer. Join us for a feast amongst the vines at Westwell Wine Estates in Kent. We’ll be serving a five course, fire-cooked tasting menu inspired by this unique setting. The menu will feature locally sourced seafood and game harvested from the vineyard alongside fruit and vegetables from local Kent producers. Each dish will be paired with a wine produced at the vineyard. Before the dining experience begins we’ll head out on a tour of the vineyard followed by a guided foraging walk through the wildflower meadows and woodland surrounding the site.
For an additional charge we will be offering bed and breakfast glamping accommodation in private bell tents dotted around the site. Evening drinks and a breakfast hamper will be included. Onsite parking will be provided for those making the journey by car. The nearest train station is Charing, Kent which can be accessed by direct train from London with a journey time of just over one hour. Local taxi/minibus services can be booked for the short journey to the location of the event.
The event will start at 3.30pm with the vineyard tour. Westwell specialise in low intervention techniques and all of their wine is produced with hand-picked grapes grown on the estate. Varieties include Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Ortega. After the vineyard tour and some light refreshments we will head out to explore the wild areas of the site during a guided foraging session. Late summer marks the start of the harvest season for hedgerow fruits, nuts and wild mushrooms. Along the way you will learn to identify some of the wild plants and fungi which will feature on the menu for the feast.
Later we will head to a dining table out on the vineyard where will start with arrival drinks and seasonal canapés. Guests will then be seated as the feast begins. Fire & Wild will take you on a unique culinary journey as you dine on a multi-course tasting menu of seasonal wild food cooked over an open wood fire by the dining table. Our ‘plant-based’ menu option is suitable for vegetarians. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate vegans. Full menu details will be announced soon…
Wine from the vineyard will accompany each dish, presented by our in-house sommelier. We will also be offering a special non-alcoholic menu of seasonal soft drinks and infusions such as kombucha. Bottled water will be provided free of charge.
The dining experience will end with wild cocktails and some time to relax around the campfire. If you are wishing to stay the night accommodation is available in comfortable bell tents . If you would like to book accommodation please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with details of your requirements. To help you get going in the morning we’ll also be providing a breakfast hamper with fresh juices, coffee and pastries. See FAQ section for further information and travel information.
